This course surveys human and media-enabled communication. A primary focus is the mass media: their history and the means by which they communicate, the societal effects of this communication, and the professional and ethical issues involved. We cover print media, photography, radio, recorded music, cinema, television, the Internet and social media, and related fields such as advertising and public relations. (TCCNS = COMM 1307)
